About Buttonmania

Buttonmania has been operating from the Nicholas Building in the heart of Melbourne's CBD for 11 years. In its current location (previously the Ballroom space), Buttonmania is an amalgamation of over 8 separate button and belt businesses and private collections which have been combined to form one of the world's most definitive button, buttonhole, belt and belt buckle retailers and manufacturers.

Proprietor Kate Boulton has been in the trade for over 32 years, and has previously run her own successful dressmaking business. Her eye for colour and sense of style ensure that customers can be confident of appropriate and original suggestions for their garments. She has an exhaustive knowledge of buttons, fastenings and vintage button making machinery, and maintains her own vast collection. She has been working towards establishing a button museum, which will focus on the history of the Melbourne rag trade.
